This morning, my first day at the TCEA 2009 Conference, I attend the Interactive Classroom Projects Using Nintendo Wii Controllers session presented by Robby McCraw at 10:30 AM. Robby is a history teacher who happened to figure out how to modify a Wii controller to make it work as an interactive white board and “virtual reality” tool to be used with Google Earth and other applications.

I was a little disappointed that Robby could not show us an actual demonstration of his creation, however he did provide ample amount of information as to how he came up with the idea, the resources he used to modify and create the Wii interactive tool, how he uses it in the classroom as well as future uses he has planned in his classroom. Robby was also nice enough to provide us a link to his website (http://mywiiclassroom.wik.is) where you can read more about his project and where he provides links to other resources to help you modify your own Wii controller for your classroom.

Im looking forward to going back to work and seeing if I can modify and create this on my own!
