Is This An Art Class?

John Tahaney of Duncanville ISD is an Art teacher who uses technology to make teaching his Art I classes easier, to capture students attention and to link art to other subject areas. Mr. Tahaney uses several technologies in his classroom; webpage, podcasts, powerpoints, word documents, a flex camera, and even a slate that allows his students to draw on MS Paint.
Although Mr. Tahaney has yet to have his students use the technology, he has already taken a big step by using the technology himself to make connections to his students, as well as providing a section on his site for parents to view the work that goes on in his Art I classroom. What I liked about Mr. Tahaney is that he did not consider himself to be a technology expert by any means, but that did not stop him from TRYING to use technology in his classroom. He took small steps to get where he is and looks forward to using more technology in his classroom.
Kudos to Mr. Tahaney and his understanding that art and technology can go hand in hand.
