What’s In It For Me?

Becky Hicks from Deer Park ISD (14 Campuses) discussed how her district goes about providing engaging Professional Staff Development and Technology Training.

Below are a few of my notes from the PowerPoint and discussion that Ms. Hicks provided.

  • Technology Setup What\'s In It For Me?
    • 1 Campus Technology Integration Specialist per campus (Masters Degree Required in IT)
    • Classrooms have 1 teacher and 5 student computers
    • Use NComputing system to run the 5 student computers per classrooms and labs
  • History of Staff Development
    • Baby steps – how does this work?
    • Intel – carrot dangling (look into Intel); 40 hour class; now 32 hours

I think one of the greatest things about seeing some of these presentations regarding technology training and professional development is that they all share their experience to get to where they are in regards to technology in their district.
