Michelle Nash of Lewisville ISD presented “Gentlemen, Start Your Lessons!” where she discussed how to actually integrate technology with software such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Google Earth, and much more at the elementary level. I wanted to show you all some video of the TCEA conference through my blog so that you could see some of the presenters in action. I decided to use Michelle as my first video because she seemed very excited about what she was presenting in the first 10 minutes and I had a good feeling that her next item up to present was going to be really cool, and it was!

The “PowerPoint Jump Slide” is a really cool idea that I believe a lot of teachers should utilize in their classrooms and it is also very easy to create as Michelle shows in the video above.

Michelle also covered lessons with Excel spreadsheets and Kidspiration (right). If you have never used Student Created Kidspiration ProjectKidspiration or Inspiration it is really a neat technology tool to become organized; a graphic organizer. If your district does not have the funds to purchase this software, there is a Web 2.0 alternative available called Webspiration that has very similar features, but is FREE!

One of the hottest things in education right now is Web 2.0 tools and Open Source Software. If you are not familiar with these terms I would suggest you start learning about them as soon as possible!
